Bee Update!
I received my one lb bar of beeswax in the mail today. I’ll be using this to seal the wood of the top bar hive (TBH) that I still need to assemble. The bees will be ready for pickup Saturday April 14th. So nervous! It’s like taking several thousand babies home for the first time.
This was also my first experience with a hive smell: this wax was organically produced and not processed in any way, just melted down into the bar. It smells… spicy? And like honey, I guess, but very strong and only what I can describe as a raw smell. Strong smells tend to throw me into a panic because synthetically produced fragrances tend to give me migraines, but as this is not a synthetic smell, I’ll just have to tell my brain to get over that.
